Firm Profile

Decker Architects combines the talents and experience of individuals who have been involved in the planning and design of health care facilities since 1973. The firm has completed more than 100 projects, totaling more than 1.9 million square feet at a cost of $124 million in construction value, in the clinical, teaching and research fields of medicine.

Decker Architects’ design philosophy, a systems approach, is capable of controlling the accelerating cost of construction in the health care field; yet, at the same time, delivering to the client a functional and innovative design solution. This approach requires that the project team of architects, planners, designers and engineers be involved in the early stages of the decision-making process regarding planning, programming and design issues.

This team approach has been able to protect clients from excessive building costs by knowing the physical constraints of each project and the regulations imposed by prevailing jurisdictions. These savings have been realized through cost/benefit decision making and project scheduling that have been established to develop the most efficient approach with the shortest time-period for construction.

The team’s success is a function of organization and a management plan that puts key personnel in the positions of principal-in-charge, project manager and selected consultants that have had past experience with similar projects, both in size and type.

In addition to the Decker Architects staff who specializes in all aspects of planning and design, key engineering and other consultant personnel on the project team are selected for their related professional experience based upon the size and complexity of the project. These individuals have successfully worked with Decker Architects in the past and are an integral part of the project team.
